To assuage my reluctance of spilling my medical history over the internet I’ve decided to add an additional page about myself bereft of anything medical.
To start, I am a huge football fan. I am especially partial to the Michigan Wolverines given I received my Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2016. The Detroit Lions are my second favorite football team and if you want my opinion they are winning the super bowl this year. You can remember you read it here come February 2025.
As if watching football wasn’t enough, I also tend to become obsessed with fantasy football during football season. What’s not to love though? Fantasy football gives you the ability to root for specific players, use numbers/stats, and get overly invested in results that you ultimately can’t influence.
Despite my entertainment with the sport of football, I do recognize that playing football is not exactly in one’s best health interests. Part of the master’s program in mechanical engineering I completed at Wayne State, in Detroit, was modeling injury mechanics of head injuries. It’s quite something to see a modeled skull and how one’s brain literally sloshes from side to side in the event of an impact…or tackle. One of the projects I completed at Wayne State with this modeled head/brain was to determine thickness of foam insert needed under a baseball cap to prevent traumatic brain injuries to pitchers from line drives. The amount of foam needed was several inches and thus infeasible aesthetically as no pitcher would voluntarily wear such an oversized baseball cap.
I also thoroughly enjoy traveling whether that be within the United States or abroad. One of my lifetime goals is to make it to all seven continents. I especially find the prospect of Antarctica fascinating although I plead the fifth on how much my desire to hug an emperor penguin influences my ambition to reach Antarctica. The countries I have visited are Canada, China, Mexico, Norway, France, Netherlands, and Colombia. One of the most unique places I have seen in person is Comuna 13 in Medellín, Colombia. Comuna 13 dealt with large amounts of violence in its history but was able to turn a page in part due to investing in art such as graffiti and murals. The results of this investment can be seen in the artwork that covers Comuna 13. I took the following pictures in March, 2019.

When I can, I also make it a point to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, and partaking in intermural sports such as kickball or dodgeball. Playing dodgeball/kickball with a bunch of other adults in their 20s/30s gives one a slightly different experience than playing pickup sports with others as a kid. The most striking difference is the number of injuries that take place, with the majority of them being non-contact injuries.
On the topic of outdoor shenanigans, this past summer I had the thought of combining paddleboarding with fishing. It’s wild as if you hook a big enough fish you will be taken for a ride on the paddleboard. I reeled in a 20 inch bass and while doing so was towed around a small area of the lake I was fishing on. It was Looney Tunes-esque.
As a millennial I of course have an unhealthy level of fandom with the Harry Potter franchise. My house is Gryffindor and my patronus is a bull mastiff (both according to the website pottermore) if anyone was curious. A hill I will die on is the position that the books are superior to the movies. Anyone who says otherwise either hasn’t read the books or is just wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. In my opinion the fourth book in the series is the best. It successfully bridges the gap between the lighthearted and darker portions of the story.
Other activities I engage in include bar trivia, photography, evening classes to expand my knowledge/skill set (right now I am taking an improv class as well as an American Sign Language class), woodworking (I’m slowly improving), and adding entries to my other website which features random design/math/engineering projects of mine.
This concludes the “more about me” section of this website as I shouldn’t give the ever-lurking AI enough data to predict my future actions. I need to stay somewhat of an enigma.
